This program is ideal for

Adventurous individuals seeking an immersive cultural experience and a deep connection with nature. Volunteers who possess openness, curiosity, and a willingness to embrace simple living conditions will thrive in this program. Spanish language skills or a desire to learn are beneficial for effective communication and engagement with the local community.

Immerse yourself in the authentic Costa Rican life, away from the tourist crowds. Join our regenerative tourism project on the Caribbean coast, live with local families, and engage in cultural exchange and nature care.

Are you ready to embrace the genuine Costa Rican experience as a volunteer? Discover the true essence of Costa Rica's Caribbean lifestyle and escape the tourist traps. Join our unique project on the Caribbean coast, where we prioritize maintaining an authentic village life, fostering a tranquil and safe environment, and savoring the finest organic and local cuisine.

Our cozy village, situated on the border with Panama, presents a unique chance to engage with a community that prioritizes culture, nature, and the sharing of ideas over mass tourism. In this locale, you won't come across hotels, bars, or souvenir stores; instead, you'll meet welcoming residents who, despite their digital connectivity, remain dedicated to upholding the essence of their village.

Within our village, volunteer positions are limited, and our central mission revolves around fostering cultural exchange, fostering an understanding of the environment, and encouraging community participation. You'll have the chance to live with a welcoming host family and actively engage in their daily activities and chores. Many families run small organic farms or engage in fishing, allowing you to participate and learn valuable skills. You can also contribute to local projects, such as primary and secondary school initiatives or beach cleanups. Furthermore, we are home to a turtle station, offering you a unique opportunity to assist in the conservation of highly endangered turtle species.

During your free time, you can explore the enchanting natural surroundings. Our village is adjacent to the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge, where lush primary rainforests and wetlands to the north and a lagoon teeming with mangroves and wildlife await to the south. Depending on the season and weather conditions, a variety of activities are available, including lagoon boat tours, rainforest hikes, turtle project visits, cacao tours, horseback riding adventures, surf lessons, dolphin-watching excursions, fishing, and coconut oil workshops. The prices for these activities can be obtained on-site.

To fully enjoy this experience, we recommend that you come prepared with:

Willingness to Embrace Remote Living: Our village lacks infrastructure like buses and stores, so be ready for a unique remote living experience. In case of a medical emergency, the journey to the nearest doctor or hospital may take some time.

Embrace Simple Living: Our rustic but clean accommodations offer basic amenities, including clean running water and electricity. Families typically have WiFi, so you can stay connected.

Openness and Cultural Curiosity: This journey is about cultural exchange, so bring an open mind, curiosity, and a friendly demeanor.

Basic Spanish Knowledge: While some families are bilingual and patient with language beginners, knowing some Spanish is incredibly helpful, as most families primarily speak Spanish. You can even book a language course in advance to enhance your communication skills.

Embark on this enriching volunteer opportunity and immerse yourself in the real Costa Rican way of life, far from the tourist buzz. Discover the Caribbean lifestyle like never before!
