Program Highlights
The area near the beach is one of the best places in Costa Rica to do surfing. It is also near a biologist reserve, which is a great opportunity to learn about the local flora and fauna. The area is conveniently located only 1.5 hours away from the airport, making it easily accessible. Jaco Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Costa Rica, is only a few minutes away. There are many other beaches around to visit during your time off, each with its unique beauty and charm. In addition to surfing, other popular activities in the area include kayaking and hiking, making it a great destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Travelers can also engage with the local community by attending cultural events, festivals, and markets, allowing for a more immersive cultural experience. The local cuisine is diverse and delicious, with many restaurants and food stalls offering traditional dishes and fresh seafood. The area has a relaxed and laid-back atmosphere, perfect for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life
UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
This program is ideal for
Volunteers who’d love to be in the wild and natural environment of Costa Rica and look forward to making efforts for protecting both land and marine inhabitants. Those who understand that the loss of biodiversity would considerably affect our quality of life and if we don't save one of the most important species (sea turtles) on our planet, we wouldn't have access to clean and healthy marine ecosystems for future generations. As your tasks will vary based on various factors, you should be open to helping out in any kind of activity that is prioritised while you’re there.
Join our wildlife conservation and surfing project in Costa Rica to protect endangered sea turtles! Volunteer by patrolling beaches, relocating turtle eggs, and immerse yourself in Costa Rican culture. Make a difference for these incredible creatures while building lifelong friendships.
Are you passionate about wildlife conservation and love the ocean? Join our Volunteer, Wildlife Conservation, and Surfing Project in beautiful Costa Rica! Dive into an unforgettable experience and make a real impact on the environment.
Protecting Endangered Sea Turtles
At Tortugas de Pacuare, our primary objective is to protect endangered sea turtles, such as Leatherback, Hawksbill, and Green sea turtles. Local communities' cooperation and the commitment of volunteers from all over the world make this mission possible. You play a crucial role in the conservation efforts of these amazing marine animals when you sign up for our program.
What You'll Do
Volunteer by protecting endangered sea turtles! Participate in evening and night patrols on the beach, where you'll locate female turtles and their at-risk nests. You'll relocate their precious eggs to a safe hatchery, keeping them away from poachers and predators.
As you tend to the turtle eggs, make sure they are ready to return to the water. You won't find anything like this hands-on, unique experience anywhere else.
Immerse Yourself in Costa Rican Culture
When you're not on turtle duty, enjoy your weekends exploring stunning beaches and immersing yourself in the rich culture of Costa Rica. The perfect blend of adventure and cultural discovery awaits you.
Build Lifelong Friendships
Connect with fellow volunteers from across the globe and forge enduring friendships. The camaraderie built while sharing this one-of-a-kind experience is a key element that makes volunteering with us truly exceptional.
Experience Nature's Surprises
Working with wildlife isn't always predictable, but that's what makes it so rewarding. Mother Nature is full of surprises, and our dedicated team loves the unpredictability of working to save these incredible creatures.
Turtle Seasons
Our project focuses on various turtle species throughout the year:
- Leatherback season: Last week of February to the end of June
- Green turtle season: July to September
- Hawksbill season: April to August
Working with Turtles
As a volunteer, you'll engage in night patrols on the beach, guided by local experts. Your team will collect turtle eggs and relocate them to a secure hatchery, protecting them from harm. You'll also play a crucial role in caring for the eggs and newly hatched turtles, ensuring they are ready for their journey back to the sea.
Join us in Costa Rica and be part of a meaningful conservation effort while enjoying the adventure of a lifetime. Volunteer for wildlife conservation and surfing, and help save these majestic creatures!
