Climate Action Life Below Water Life on Land

This program is ideal for

Volunteers who don’t mind going the extra mile, focusing on one student at a time, to ensure that students grasp the English language well. You should remain patient with the students as many may take longer to learn and even require special attention. As your tasks will vary based on various factors, you should be open to helping out in any kind of activity that is prioritised while you’re there.

Are you passionate about marine conservation? Join our newest sea turtle conservation initiative in Ghana and play a crucial role in preserving critically endangered species, including the Olive Ridley, Leather-back, and Green Turtle. As a volunteer, you'll participate in beach patrols, gather vital information about sea turtle activities and nesting places, move eggs to newly constructed hatcheries for their protection during the at-risk period, and ensure the safety and security of these facilities. Together, we can help these remarkable species reach their population and hatching goals.

Why Volunteer for Sea Turtle Conservation in Ghana?

Sea turtles hold a pivotal role in the ecosystem, exerting a substantial influence on the surrounding environment and its resident species. Regrettably, the numbers of sea turtles have declined, primarily because of habitat destruction resulting from climate change, human actions, accidental entanglements in fishing equipment, and their exploitation for meat. Our worldwide initiative is dedicated to safeguarding sea turtle eggs and hatch-lings by engaging in data collection and conservation responsibilities. By participating as a volunteer with us, you will play a vital part in the joint endeavor to secure the existence of these remarkable creatures.

How to Get to the Placement

Depending on your team allocation and location, you might find yourself close to the beach during your volunteer shift. Here's how you can get to the placement:

Walking: If you're situated in close proximity, taking a leisurely walk to the beach offers a delightful and environmentally friendly choice. Immerse yourself in the captivating Ghanaian scenery and bask in its natural splendor.
Cycling: For those seeking a touch of adventure, cycling is a fantastic means of reaching the beach. It not only allows you to venture through the region but also contributes to a more sustainable and cleaner environment.
Shared Cab Journey: If the beach is a bit farther from your location, you can opt for a short shared cab journey. It's a convenient and cost-effective way to reach the placement quickly.

Join us in Ghana to make a difference in sea turtle conservation. By volunteering, you'll not only contribute to these species' survival but also experience the beauty of Ghana's coastal environment. Together, we can advocate for sea turtle conservation and protect their precious nesting grounds.
