UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:

No Poverty Good Health and Well-being

This program is ideal for

Volunteers seeking to learn more about South Africa's emerging country's medical and healthcare infrastructure. You will have an opportunity to meet new people, expand your network, and develop professional skills. As your tasks will vary based on various factors, you should be open to helping out in any kind of activity that is prioritised while you’re there.

South Africa's private healthcare system meets developed-world standards for those who can afford it. The public healthcare system, which serves 80% of the population, confronts significant issues. The country's urbanization has put a significant burden on Cape Town's hospitals, with many running out of beds, doctors, and medical supplies. Infectious diseases such as typhoid fever and hepatitis are common, owing largely to poor public health, and HIV/AIDS remains a destructive epidemic.

In community clinics that serve underprivileged populations, volunteers work. They share their knowledge and ideas with the local personnel and, when necessary and permitted by the local nurses and doctors, assist in providing care. Volunteers live and work in Cape Town or nearby places.

Structure and Facilities

  • The majority of medical projects are understaffed and lacking in resources, which makes for a climate that may be very demanding and difficult to work in.
  • Facilities supported by the government for those unable to pay for private healthcare.
  • There are no big operations carried out here.
