Are you passionate about music and eager to create positive change in the lives of young learners? Join us at the "Sounds of Change" music school program in Nicoya, Costa Rica. Since its inception in 2008, this school has been dedicated to enriching the lives of children through classical and traditional music education.
Our Mission
Supported by SINEM (Sistema Nacional de Educación Nacional), the "Sounds of Change" program is deeply rooted in the local community. We collaborate with cultural organizations to provide instruments and rehearsal spaces, making quality music education accessible to all.
Our Impact
With approximately 600 students aged 4 to 19, our program is thriving. However, most of our educators are students themselves, demonstrating the power of peer learning.
What You Bring
- A deep love for music and proficiency in playing a range of instruments including the violin, viola, cello, contrabass, transverse flute, sax, oboe, trumpet, tuba, and more.
- A genuine fondness for interacting with children and a firm commitment to taking on responsibilities.
- While some basic knowledge of Spanish is advantageous, rest assured that you can conveniently sign up for Spanish classes on-site.
Holidays and Programs
The school operates during specific holiday periods, including:
- Middle of December to the beginning of February
- Easter week
- 1st of May (Labour Day)
- First two weeks of July
- 25th of July (Día de la Annexión de Guanacaste)
- 15th of September (Independence Day)
During school holidays, special programs are available for children to continue their musical journey.
