UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
This program is ideal for
Volunteers who have some prior experience working for individuals with special needs will be able to take on more responsibilities. Those who find it meaningful to make efforts underpriviliged communities or assist the less fortunate. As your tasks will vary based on various factors, you should be open to helping out in any kind of activity that is prioritised while you’re there.
In South Africa, there are extremely few special care facilities and schools that can accommodate both children and people with impairments. In addition to this lack of facilities, the ones that do exist regularly encounter a variety of difficulties (extremely high operating costs, staff shortages, aging equipment, etc.). These facilities must provide round-the-clock care for youngsters since they have severe physical and intellectual problems. For them, even simple chores like feeding themselves, using the lavatory, walking, conversing, and simply playing, in general, are exceedingly difficult. The likelihood is high that the kids will never be fully self-sufficient, and they will always need care.
For individuals studying and practicing in the fields of occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, speech therapy, etc., this program is perfect! Volunteers deliver love, affection, and attention even if they are not qualified. Children with "special needs" need this constantly throughout the day, and volunteers offer these extra hands and eyes.
