Program Highlights
This program has a double impact on society by promoting social inclusion and environmental protection. The project is situated near a beautiful forest that volunteers can explore and patrol during the summer to prevent fires. Volunteers will have the opportunity to work on a sustainable farm, learning about agriculture practices and caring for farm animals. As part of the program, volunteers will help the project staff with hippotherapy classes, assisting disabled individuals. The accommodation is located in the heart of Porto city center, giving volunteers easy access to Portuguese culture and local attractions. Volunteers can explore Porto's museums, attend cultural events, and visit historic landmarks in their free time. The program offers affordable horse riding classes for beginners, providing volunteers with a unique way to explore the surrounding nature. Volunteers will work closely with the project staff and local community members, fostering social connections and cultural exchange. This program provides a safe and supportive environment for volunteers to contribute to a meaningful cause, learn new skills, and make a positive impact on society.
UN’s Sustainable Development Goals:
This program is ideal for
Nature enthusiasts who have a deep love for animals, particularly horses, and a passion for sustainable farming and social inclusion. Volunteers should possess a strong work ethic, adaptability to farm and forest environments, and a willingness to engage in a variety of tasks. They should be patient, caring, and enjoy working with both animals and children. If you are eager to contribute to environmental education, community support, and enjoy an immersive farm experience.
Are you eager to embark on a meaningful adventure as a volunteer in Portugal's Conservation Project: Horse Patrols & Environmental Protection? This exceptional program offers you a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in an authentic farming and forest experience, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the companionship of horses.
As a dedicated volunteer, your role extends beyond environmental protection. You'll be part of a non-profit organization committed to supporting the local community through various initiatives, including environmental education projects, rehabilitation of disabled individuals, and fostering social inclusion.
Your journey as a volunteer will be marked by diverse experiences. You'll work closely with the organization's dedicated staff and engage with the local youth community. Your tasks will include supporting hippotherapy classes, tending to the vegetable garden, participating in forest patrols on horseback to prevent wildfires, supervising children during their educational summer camps, aiding in reforesting wild areas with autochthonous trees, seed collection, and even herding a small flock of goats and sheep.
For those who cherish a passion for horses, this project is an absolute dream. Horses will be your trusted companions throughout the environmental protection and social inclusion activities. They'll also serve as your mode of transportation, enabling you to contribute to the maintenance of the sprawling 3-hectare wild area and support the horse school. If you've never ridden before, fear not – this project offers an excellent opportunity to learn. The school welcomes beginners and provides affordable week-long classes that can be conveniently included in your program fee.
