The Vervet Monkey Foundation (VMF) is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 and located in Tzaneen, South Africa. Dedicated to primate welfare and conservation, our center rehabilitates and provides a haven for over 500 primates, including orphans, injured individuals, abuse victims, former laboratory subjects, and unwanted pets. Our initiatives encompass rehabilitating orphaned and injured primates, researching and addressing vervet monkey-related issues, educating the public about their role in ecosystems and mitigating human-vervet conflicts, offering sanctuary to non-releasable primates, and involving volunteers in studying and contributing to primate conservation.

We emphasize sustainable practices, with 80% of our power sourced from solar energy. Our journey began in 1989 when a baby Vervet monkey was discovered, highlighting the dire situation these primates faced. Recognizing the need for proper care and research, we established a rehabilitation center, pioneering effective rehabilitation methods. Our approach prioritizes individualized treatment, understanding the diverse backgrounds and unique needs of the monkeys we rescue. Through dedication and collaboration, we've successfully rehabilitated hundreds of vervet monkeys, promoting their return to a wild state within a natural environment in just a matter of weeks.
