Embrace your love for capturing moments and making a positive impact by joining our volunteer team.

We dedicate ourselves to conservation and education to help isolated communities grow in a sustainable way - and we need you to help us convey that message!  Whether it is getting photographs to accurately depict the work we do or videos of the stunning wildlife on Isabela Island, you will be capturing the essence of our work and disseminating it to our local and international communities, and spreading it to future volunteers, donors, and collaborators to excite them about IOI.

 

At the same time this project is part of a Galapagos Government Council project that seeks to strengthen small, local entrepreneurs so that through the use of social networks they can generate conten and a greater reach of their project. As a volunteer you will help and support local community members and their businesses get their products and message on social media or public by other means (flyers, brochures, etc.).

 

Your responsabilities will greatly depend on your skills and experience, as well as on the needs of IOI and/or the business that you will be working with. Your tasks may include generating footage (photo and film) and text that accurately and meaningfully captures the nature of IOI or the business and its product(s), or perhaps designing a flyer, or social media strategy. The possibilities will vary!

During your volunteer stint in the Galapagos, Ecuador, you'll have the opportunity to engage in a variety of enriching free-time activities that complement your experience. Here are some activities you can enjoy:

  1. Nature Exploration: The Galapagos Islands are a natural wonderland with unique wildlife and stunning landscapes. Use your free time to explore the diverse ecosystems, go for hikes, and observe the endemic species that call these islands home.
  2. Snorkeling and Scuba Diving: Immerse yourself in the underwater world surrounding the Galapagos Islands. Snorkel or dive to witness incredible marine life, including sea turtles, colorful fish, and even hammerhead sharks.
  3. Beach Relaxation: Spend leisurely hours on the pristine beaches, soaking up the sun and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere. Play beach volleyball, build sandcastles, or simply unwind with a good book.
  4. Local Markets and Shops: Visit local markets and shops to discover unique crafts, souvenirs, and artwork that showcase the Galapagos culture and heritage.
  5. Photography: Capture the breathtaking beauty of the islands through photography. The landscapes, wildlife, and seascapes provide excellent opportunities for aspiring and professional photographers alike.
  6. Volunteer Community Engagement: Get involved with the local community by participating in cultural exchange activities, community events, and interactions with residents to learn more about their way of life.
  7. Outdoor Sports: Engage in outdoor activities like kayaking, paddleboarding, and cycling to explore the islands from a different perspective and enjoy some physical activity.
